Why Air Gap Accuracy Matters in Brushless EPS Motor Assembly?

In EPS motor manufacturing, stator and rotor assembly is completed within just a few seconds, yet the air gap accuracy achieved after assembly directly determines the motor’s performance and quality. The air gap refers to the radial physical clearance between the inner surface of the stator and the outer surface of the rotor in an EPS motor. Typically ranging from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm, this gap plays a critical role in motor efficiency, electromagnetic performance, and operating stability. Because of their compact design and high power density, EPS motors typically require a smaller air gap than conventional industrial motors, resulting in much stricter assembly-precision requirements.
